Migration strategy

Pilot-first, then migrate in waves

We recommend starting with a pilot project, then continuing your migration in waves. Validate the migration with a small team first, gather feedback, refine your migration approach, and build confidence before moving larger or more complex projects. This phased strategy helps reduce risk while making every migration wave smoother than the last.

The OpenProject Jira Migrator evolves with every monthly OpenProject release. As new migration capabilities become available, organizations can migrate increasingly complex Jira environments over time.
