The REWRITE project
The EU-funded REWRITE project, coordinated by Nantes University and involving 100 researchers from 24 partners, develops tools for renaturalization and rewilding Europe's coastal zones. The project is scheduled to run for five years (2023-2028) and will be managed efficiently with the help of OpenProject.

How the REWRITE project uses OpenProject
The REWRITE project team was so kind to create a short video that shows very nicely how they work with OpenProject:
The future of European shoreline
The EU-funded REWRITE project is a ground-breaking initiative addressing one of the most pressing issues of our time: climate change. The project group is developing tools for restoration and rewilding natural habitats – mainly Europe’s coastal zones – to improve biodiversity and resilience. With the implementation of multi-actor co-designed scenarios, REWRITE will bridge natural and social sciences and humanities, engage varied categories of stakeholders, aiming to take into account the complexity of coastal area, to project the future of European shoreline.
The project takes a holistic approach, integrating natural and social sciences in a balanced way to ensure that technological advances are aligned with societal values and expectations. REWRITE is a Horizon Europe project. Read more about the goal and the four project stages at https://www.rewriteproject.net.

5 years, 24 organizations, 100 researchers
Coordinating a project on the scale of REWRITE is no trivial matter. With 24 partners and 100 researchers spread across different countries, efficient management and communication are crucial. OpenProject has proven to be the perfect choice for this complex endeavor, providing a user-friendly platform for project coordination and task management.
Project manager Tamiris Moreno: “It is a very ambitious project, but the people are highly motivated.” To keep track of the work packages, she works with date alerts in OpenProject that remind her to schedule meetings with the responsible people to discuss the progress of the task and the next steps.

Coordination with OpenProject and Nextcloud
To centralize all the data in one place, the REWRITE project group uses the Nextcloud integration with OpenProject. Particularly at the beginning, the team has to do a lot of literature reviews and write scientific papers, so the amount of data is massive.
Lily Puspasari, data steward for the REWRITE project: “We also put all the documentation on Nextcloud, because we want to keep OpenProject clean and slick. And OpenProject is very user-friendly! Everything is straightforward, and it does not need a lot of effort to keep everything together.”

The benefits of OpenProject for the REWRITE project team
