OpenProject 4.2 released

OpenProject 4.2.0 (and 4.2.1) has been released. The release contains major improvements regarding language support and navigation.

Additionally, the release contains several bug fixes, design and usability improvements.

Please note that OpenProject 4.2.1 resolves an installation error with the packager installation. We highly recommend to update to OpenProject 4.2.1.

What is new in OpenProject 4.2?

Integrated language support for OpenProject plugins

With OpenProject 4.2 additional language support is included in the OpenProject core. Translations are now provided not only for the core but also for plugins. Help us translate the OpenProject core and plugins on CrowdIn.

Improved navigation

The navigation has been improved with OpenProject 4.2: Frequently used pages, such as the work package page, have been included in the Modules drop down menu. The administration can now be accessed via the drop down menu below the user name.

Improved design

OpenProject 4.2 contains several design improvements to provide a better and cleaner user interface.

Usability improvements

A number of usability improvements are included in OpenProject 4.2. For example, users’ email addresses are no longer displayed in the user profile by default after inviting or registration a new user account.

Additional functionalities for API v3

Several new features have been included in the new OpenProject API. The API v3 now enables work package creation, CRUD operations for work package attachments and includes basic auth. Please note that the API v3 is still a draft.

Installation

To use OpenProject 4.2 online, create an instance on OpenProject.com.

Please note that OpenProject 4.2.0 contained an installation error when using packager which has been resolved with OpenProject 4.2.1.

We highly recommend to install OpenProject 4.2.1.

Migrating to OpenProject 4.2

Follow the migration guide for the packaged installation or the migration guide for the manual installation to update your OpenProject installation to OpenProject 4.2.

Hosted OpenProject environments are updated automatically.
