OpenProject integration app for Nextcloud 3.3.0 released with Nextcloud 35 support
We’re pleased to announce the release of OpenProject integration app version 3.3.0 for Nextcloud, adding support for the recently released Nextcloud 35.
With this release, we are also ending the parallel 2.x release track. Going forward, updates to the OpenProject integration app will be provided through the 3.x series.
What’s new
Support for Nextcloud 35
Following the release of Nextcloud 35, OpenProject integration app 3.3.0 updates the integration to support the new Nextcloud version while maintaining compatibility with older supported Nextcloud versions.
One important change in Nextcloud 35 affects how OAuth2 clients are represented internally. The OAuth2 client has moved to a new attribute-based entity, requiring an update to the OpenProject integration app. Version 3.3.0 introduces the necessary compatibility changes while continuing to support the previous OAuth2 implementation used by older Nextcloud versions.
The updated OAuth2 integration has been tested with both Nextcloud 34 and Nextcloud 35, including setting up the integration, creating an OAuth client and resetting an existing client.
This allows organizations to upgrade to Nextcloud 35 and continue using the OpenProject integration without changes to their existing workflow.
Improvements and stability
Version 3.3.0 also fixes an issue affecting the integration’s administrator settings in Nextcloud 35. Previously, running database schema checks or upgrades could reset existing configuration settings, including the configured OpenProject instance URL.
With this release, the OpenProject integration preserves these settings when Nextcloud checks the database schema or runs migrations, helping ensure a more reliable upgrade experience.
Moving forward with the 3.x release track
With version 3.3.0, we are no longer maintaining a parallel 2.x release of the OpenProject integration app.
Previous releases were provided in parallel – most recently versions 3.2.0 and 2.12.0 – to support different Nextcloud versions. From now on, new compatibility updates, improvements and fixes will be released as part of the 3.x series.
We recommend that all users of the 2.x release track move to a compatible 3.x version when upgrading their Nextcloud installation.
Update recommendation
We recommend updating through the Nextcloud App Store to benefit from Nextcloud 35 compatibility and future improvements to the OpenProject integration.
As always, please check the supported Nextcloud versions before upgrading your installation.
Thank you
Many thanks to the Nextcloud team for their ongoing collaboration and support. We look forward to continuing to keep the OpenProject integration aligned with new Nextcloud releases.
