OpenProject as a software offering for collaboration

The IT of the Brandenburg State Parliament is operated completely independently, from the network to client management, without central IT service providers. The IT Directorate supports around 600 users, including members of parliament, parliamentary groups, and employees in constituency offices.

The aim of introducing OpenProject was to offer users in the State Parliament a useful solution for collaboration – voluntarily, not compulsorily. For managing their tasks as well as project-related collaboration, a tool was needed that would enable flexible task distribution and follow-ups, central project planning, and integrated file management – without compromising data sovereignty. OpenProject enables the teams to work securely, confidently, and independently.

OpenProject supports daily tasks and recurring activities

OpenProject was initially used in the IT Directorate for overarching task management and coordination of team activities. Another area of use for OpenProject at the Brandenburg State Parliament is the organization of tasks in the field of public relations and for event management. OpenProject smoothly supports processes that run similarly with project templates and predefined tasks. Public relations also works with the team planner to structure and prioritize their work.

In the Directorate for Human Resources, the software supports recruitment processes that require recurring procedures and to-do lists and in which the same tasks are performed repeatedly.

Coordination and documentation of different initiatives and projects

OpenProject is used for various project activities across Brandenburg State Parliament. It supports the project management for e-government projects, such as the project to introduce electronic files (E-Akte) where OpenProject is used very intensively. Project management runs smoothly, and task distribution and project planning are always transparent.

In the Directorate for Parliamentary Operations one project deals with the revision of the rules of procedure at the end of the legislative period. This involves revising paragraphs and completing a number of tasks. Status and votes must be discussed repeatedly in the parliamentary chamber. OpenProject is used to effectively coordinate and harmonize the work in this project.
